I Got New Gear for 2018 - Sony A7riii and Batis 18mm

2018 is going to be amazing. It already is so far, but there is just something about this year.... this year just feels right. It seems as though everything is falling into place and I couldn't be more excited! I have so many things scheduled for the upcoming months, so much planned, and it feels so good!

Now, I am pretty good at not buying the latest and greatest gadgets whenever they come out. It is hard to stay disciplined when there are so many cool new tech things, cool lenses, and all around so much cool new gear that floods our lives. Every way we turn we see an advertisement about this cool new thing and that cool new thing. The struggle is real guys! Ultimately it makes it hard to say "no I don't need that"; however, when the Sony A7riii came out I knew that at some point in the future I would own it.

Right now I shoot on the Sony A7rii and it has been an amazing camera. I love it, but when Sony announced the Sony A7riii I knew that at some point I was going to get it. Well, that point came last Saturday and I couldn't be more thrilled! There was a 'Sony Trade In Event' happening at my local camera shop, so I had to take advantage of it.

As I walked in the door I ended up passing the used gear section and saw a lens that I have been wanting for my adventures and backpacking trips. This is the Batis 18mm f2.8 . It has been a lens I have been keeping my eye on for quite some time.

So, I am sure you are wondering why I would want this lens. Well, I try to backpack as lightweight as possible. My typical weight for my pack is around 35-40 pounds. This Batis is a pound lighter than my Sony 16-34mm plus it has a wider aperture, so its a win all the way around! Since the lens was in the used gear cabinet is was much cheaper than new, so of course I was interested in it. I asked the for the history of the lens and it was barely ever used,  so I just couldn't help myself and had to get it too!

I am super excited about this new step forward. I will be testing out the Sony A7riii and providing a review in a couple of weeks. So stay tuned for my next post!

Wishing you nothing but  beautiful day!

Bessie
