Seriously as a photographer blogging can be such a drag. When I first started my business I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I completely thought that I was going to take photos for the rest of my life. Hahaha man was I naive.
When you start a photography business you never think about all the things that come along with it. Let me Enlighten you for a moment. A photography business is just that... It is a business. You have to know all the things. I am talking about seriously all the things. You have to know business, you have to know website creation, you have to know design, you have to know social media, you have to know marketing, and the list goes on and on and on .
I was able to get into most of the stuff . I created my website, yes it was hard, but I was able to get it done. I already had a social media account and I was able to work that accordingly . I love taking photos and I started a photography business so obviously that was easy for me. The one thing that was super incredibly difficult was blogging .
Now the funny thing is is I love to write . When I was growing up I would actually write short books . It was so much fun , I was always good in English and I figured blogging would be one of the things that was the easiest thing for me . Well lo and behold it has been one of the hardest .
My blogging history is somewhat ugly . I would start blogging and then I would stop. And then I would blog daily and then I would stop. Then I would blog weekly and then I would stop. It’s been rough. I could never just really get into it.
Finally this year I decided to actually blog on a weekly basis . I started schedule my blog posts out to go live every Tuesday at 6 a.m. . Now this is 3 years later mind you . 3 years into my photography business and I'm finally learning how much I actually love to blog .
So now it is super long winded intro why do I love flogging? I mean that's really why you guys came to this post anyways right? So let's get into the reason of why I love blogging so much .
1. I get to help other people
Now honestly this is enough in itself . This is pretty much why I started my entire YouTube channel . I want to help other people . I have this insane craving and desire to help others. Once I finally realized that blogging was a way for me to do that it made it so easy . I get to share free information with millions of people . Where else can you do that? Honestly, you can really only do that on the internet .
2. Stress relief
Okay I'm laughing even as I type this . Before blogging used to be a form of stress . I mean it literally stressed me out so bad on a daily basis . It was something that I had to do and was never able to find the time to do . How sad is that? I mean really though? Once I figured out a system of how to actually blog easily it made it so good . If you haven't had a chance to check out my blog on how to make blogging easy please go do that right now . Stop everything that you're doing right now and go over to that post . It will change your blogging life . Here… here is the actual post:
7 Tips to Make Blogging Easier and Faster
So once I figured out how to make blogging easy and less time-consuming it all the sudden became fun. If became something that I craved doing. It was a place where I could go help others and be creative all at the same time ! You can't get any better than that! So now I use blogging more as a form of a stress relief . When I get stressed being creative and helping others is what helps me be less stressed. Plus I love writing… so it's a win-win-win
3. Keeping a creative mind
This is huge! If you are consistently doing something you will be more creative and actually want to do it more . When you stop doing that thing you will begin to get in what I like to call a funk . You get unmotivated you get a little bit depressed and you just don't want to do it anymore even if it's the thing that you love to do the most . It becomes a form of frustration which is just super sad. So my suggestion to you is do what you love more often. It will help you stay out of that unmotivated, depressed, frustrated frame of mind.
Trust me on this. Create more and create more often. This will help you stay creative.
Now in photography we can't always get out into these amazing Landscapes. We can't always get those super badass couples that we want to photograph to go on adventures with us . So how do you actually keep that creative mind? How do you create and create more often? My answer to you my friend is blogging . It keeps your mind in that frame , in that mindset . If you can't always get out and do that thing that you love then write about it . It keeps your mind actually thinking that way rather than just letting it all go and getting yourself into that oh so Dreadful funk .
4. A place to actually write
Now for me, I love writing. Like I told you before I grew up writing and it makes me super happy . I lost that desire somewhere between high school and college and all the craziness that happens during those years. I completely stopped writing. I made it ‘ok’ by saying to myself ‘what good does it do anyways? It’s not like I am going to write a book…’ (even though I actually might). Finding blogging allowed me a reason to actually write. It's a place where I can go, share my thoughts, help others along the way, and write all at the same time! It's amazing!
Wow that was alot of me talking… or should I say blogging :)
Seriously blogging is all about a mindset . If you have the right mindset you're going to love it. You have to figure out why you're blogging . What's your reason? Why do you want to start a blog? Once you actually figure that stuff out you're going to want to blog all the time. So why do you blog? Leave a comment down below and let me know.
